Upgrading & Managing Your Plan

This guide covers how to upgrade to Pro, manage your subscription, and handle billing.

Upgrading to Pro

From the Dashboard

  1. Go to Settings → Billing
  2. Click Upgrade to Pro
  3. Review the plan features and pricing
  4. Enter your payment information
  5. Click Subscribe

Your upgrade takes effect immediately. All Pro features become available right away.

What happens when you upgrade

  • All feature restrictions are lifted immediately
  • Integrations (Slack, Calendar, API) become available
  • Schedule interval minimums decrease to 15 minutes
  • Audit retention extends to 90 days
  • Existing audit logs are preserved (not backdated)

Pro Pricing

Per-User Pricing

Pro is billed per user per month:

Monthly$12/user/month
Annual$120/user/year ($10/user/month)

Example: A team of 5 users pays $60/month (monthly) or $600/year (annual).

What counts as a user?

All active team members count toward billing:

  • Organization owner
  • Admins
  • Members

Pending invitations don't count until accepted.

Adding or removing users

When you add users:

  • You're charged prorated for the remainder of the billing period
  • Next invoice reflects the new user count

When you remove users:

  • Credit is applied to your next invoice
  • You're never charged for removed users

Managing Your Subscription

Accessing Billing Settings

  1. Go to Settings → Billing
  2. You'll see your current plan, usage, and payment details

Updating Payment Method

  1. Go to Settings → Billing
  2. Click Manage Billing (opens Stripe portal)
  3. Update your card or add a new payment method

Viewing Invoices

  1. Go to Settings → Billing → History
  2. View all past invoices
  3. Download invoices as PDF

Or access via Stripe:

  1. Click Manage Billing
  2. Go to Invoices in the Stripe portal

Changing Billing Frequency

To switch between monthly and annual billing:

  1. Go to Settings → Billing
  2. Click Manage Billing
  3. Update your subscription to the new frequency

Note: Switching to annual billing applies immediately. You'll receive credit for any unused monthly time.


Downgrading

Downgrading to Free

  1. Go to Settings → Billing
  2. Click Manage Billing
  3. Click Cancel Subscription
  4. Choose when to cancel:
    • End of billing period (recommended)
    • Immediately

What happens when you downgrade

When your Pro subscription ends:

Your existing resources are safe. Collections, schedules, and providers remain but you can't create new ones beyond Free limits.

Before you downgrade

Consider:

  • Export audit logs if you need them for compliance
  • Disable integrations gracefully (notify your team)
  • Review your usage — you may need to reduce resources

Enterprise Upgrades

Requesting Enterprise

  1. Contact Sales
  2. Discuss your requirements:
    • Number of users
    • SSO requirements
    • Custom integration needs
    • Support SLA requirements
  3. Receive a custom quote
  4. Sign the enterprise agreement
  5. We'll provision your Enterprise account

Enterprise Features

Enterprise includes everything in Pro, plus:

  • SAML SSO
  • 365-day audit retention
  • 5-minute minimum schedule interval
  • Custom integrations
  • Priority support
  • Dedicated success manager

Billing FAQ

When am I charged?

  • Monthly: On the same day each month as your signup
  • Annual: On the same day each year as your signup

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept:

  • Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express)
  • Debit cards
  • Some prepaid cards

Enterprise customers can pay by invoice.

Can I get a refund?

  • Monthly: Pro-rated refund if you cancel within 14 days
  • Annual: Pro-rated refund if you cancel within 30 days

Contact support@nightops.io for refund requests.

What happens if payment fails?

  1. We retry the payment after 3 days
  2. We retry again after 5 days
  3. After 7 days, your subscription is paused
  4. After 14 days, your subscription is canceled

You'll receive email notifications at each step.

Can I pause my subscription?

Not directly, but you can:

  1. Cancel at the end of your billing period
  2. Resubscribe later (your data is retained for 90 days)

Do you offer discounts?

  • Annual billing: Save ~17% vs monthly
  • Startups: Contact us about our startup program
  • Non-profits: Contact us for special pricing

Reactivating a Canceled Subscription

If you canceled but want to resubscribe:

  1. Go to Settings → Billing
  2. Click Reactivate Subscription
  3. Confirm your payment method
  4. Your Pro features are restored immediately

If your cancellation was recent, all your data (including extended audit logs) may still be available.
